“Kandinsky was fascinated by the expressive power of linear forms. Lyricism is the pathos of a force whose triumphant effort enters into action and encounters no obstacle. Because the straight line results from the initiative of a single, unopposed force, its domain is that of the lyric. When two forces are present and thus enter in conflict, as this is the case with the curve or the zigzag line, we are in domain of drama”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wassily_Kandinsky
Happily welcomed back my young artist from earlier this year…..
This is recent art work from my young student, who earlier this year came into my studio and asked me if he could learn to paint like Kandinsky.
I was very happy to guide him but in fact this young chap is a determined young artist with a lot of potential. Hopefully we will all see a lot more of his work in years to come. He is on holiday here at Laguna Phuket and with a bit of luck he will be back in a few days to paint another work.

One & Only Reethi Rah Resort Maldives as Artist in Residence with Christopher Hogan
I thought that I would tell you all about a wonderful event that the management here at One & Only Reethi Rah Maldives organises, it is a chance to go for the day of sun and fun to a remote uninhabited island where the guests are spoilt with lots of good food and drinks and some great activities. Recently I was invited to be part of this great fun day as Artist in Residence here. I set up my ‘Christopher Hogan studio’ in this unbelievably beautiful setting and I had 14 guests take an art class with me.
Some good paintings were done and we all had lots of fun, so that’s the main thing with these events.
Here are some pics that I thought I might share with you all.

Tim Boda, General Manager of Anantara Hua Hin generously invited us to join the players for a cocktail party in Sala Lounge of his wonderful resort. Everyone had a great time, the food was spectacular and we all enjoyed the Monsoon Valley Art series wines, these wines carry my artwork and I am very proud of the collaboration between Siam Winery, Anantara Hua Hin and myself. Especially enjoying the new release White Shiraz.
Well, what an exciting week, Beres & I were invited Anantara Hua Hin VIP’s to the Grand Parade, Elephant Blessing and Elephant Buffet for the 10th King’s Cup Elephant Polo being held this year at Suriyothai Camp, Hua Hin, Thailand.

I had an interesting art class on Saturday and here are a couple of pics.
Rewarding teaching these young people.
One of my young student, a little French girl, insisted that Beres join her for the morning. Total Enjoyment!
This young girl enjoyed her second art class this week.
The family class was three generations, holiday memories are made of this!
